Production of fertiliser, energy and electricity from wastewater from cabin ships, as well as an update on shore power

Graduate Engineer Dr. Harald Beutl is an expert in integrative development projects at viadonau. In his presentation, he introduces a globally innovative system for recovering energy, water, and nutrients from ship- and building-related wastewater and food waste. This FFG-funded project is being implemented in the new floating viadonau building at Vienna’s Handelskai and showcases approaches to greater sustainability and self-sufficiency in building operations as well as on river cruise ships. In addition, Beutl reports on the current status of shore-side electricity supply for cruise ships along the Austrian Danube.
