City Hiking Paths

Vienna’s city hiking trails run for over 240 kilometers, mostly through the Vienna Woods on the edge of the city or through Vienna’s local recreation areas. They are well signed and can be reached by public transport. Service areas, restaurants and heurige along the way invite you to stay awhile, as do benches and tables at particularly attractive viewpoints or on forest meadows.

Wine hiking

Autumn is all about wine walking. Unique for a city, Vienna has over 700 hectares of vineyards and around 140 vineyards cultivate the vineyards of Kahlenberg, Nussberg, Bisamberg and Mauer - where the Danube and the nearby Vienna Woods create an ideal microclimate.  The annual Wine Hiking Day (end of September) leads through Vienna's vineyards and vineyards. Along the way there are many opportunities to taste good drops.

Vienna Water Trail

This 17 km circular trail goes from the lower section of an old branch of the Danube known as the Alte Donau to the Danube wetlands (Nationalpark Donauauen). Numerous information signs explain the history and significance of the Alte Donau and the Danube wetlands (Nationalpark Donauauen).

The green belt around Vienna has been protected for over a century and is a welcoming and harmonious setting for hikes. The 120 km long trail is divided into 24 stages that are easy to cover.
