Danube expansion Straubing - Deggendorf; past and future measures

Graduate Engineer Jürgen Schillinger is Head of the Danube Expansion Division at the Danube Waterways and Shipping Authority MDK. He reports on the expansion of the Danube section between Straubing and Vilshofen without the construction of weirs. The presentation covers construction progress in several sections, particularly between Straubing and Deggendorf, with the next construction phase starting at the end of 2025. The focus is on measures such as bank relocation, floodplain restoration, and ecological compensation. Throughout the construction work, continuous navigation will be ensured.
